Overview
You may need to install applications from the Apple App Store, but be unable to do so because of having a managed Apple ID. This document describes how to switch to an unmanaged Apple ID.
In general, you won't need to do this because applications can be installed through mobile management. But if your device has become unmanaged for some reason, such as management system migration, you may need to do this.
First, decide on an unmanaged Apple ID
You may already have a personal Apple ID on your personal Apple devices. If you want, you can use this one. But be aware that data stored in iCloud (such as contacts, and photos) may be downloaded to the corporate owned device.
Alternately, you could create a new unmanaged Apple ID using a free public email such as Apple, Gmail, Outlook, or Yahoo. This is a good choice if you have any concerns about data you may have stored in iCloud.
If you choose to create a new Apple ID this documentation from Apple may be helpful for you:
Note that you can create the account in the third step on your device.

Second, sign-out of your managed Apple ID
- From the home screen, enter the Settings application.
- At the top of the Settings menu, you should see your name. Tap on that, you will enter the Apple ID settings.
- Scroll to the bottom of the Apple ID settings and find the Sign Out button. Press it.
- Select the data you wish to keep on your device (typically all) and tap the Sign Out button.
- Confirm you wish to sign out.
- Wait for the sign-out process to finish.
Third, sign-in to your preferred unmanaged Apple ID
- From the top of the Settings menu (you should be there after signing out in the previous step) tap on "Apple Account"
- Sign-in manually or use another device with the unmanaged Apple ID if you have an unmanaged Apple ID you want to use.
- Or create a new Apple ID by tapping "Don't have an Apple Account?" and following the prompts.
